TRAINING TIP OF THE WEEK

large product photo   With Discipline come Privileges

If you maintain a high level of discipline with your dog, you will be able to grant more and more privileges.
Establish good routines, so that your dog knows what to expect. Practice in a controlled environment with no distractions, so that there is no chance of a misunderstanding.

Dogs and water   Watch your dogs around water

Water can be just as dangerous to dogs, as it is to children. A friends Bischon fell in their Jacuzzi and drowned, because it could not get out.
Teach your dog to swim, and more importantly, make sure they ONLY get out where the steps are. This way a pattern is established that they can follow if left alone.

Child with dog   Supervise Babies and Dogs

Introducing a newborn baby to the family pet is an extremely important step in establishing a good relationship. Prepare for this while pregnant, and teach the family how to handle issues that may come up.
If your dog has high prey drive, get professional help, as this could cause safety issues later.

Vaccination time with Dr. Stan   Vaccinations required

Make sure your dog is fully vaccinated at least a week BEFORE they are to stay at a boarding facility. Make sure it includes kennel cough, and while at your vet ask about vaccinating against snake bites.
