What does the course teach?
To sit politely when greeted, petted and for examination
To recognize and respond to sit, down, stay and come
To walk politely on a loose leash,
To walk through a group of people
To react politely to other on leash dogs
To behave when exposed to visual and sound distractions
To maintain good manners on leash while you are out of sight
I've heard about the Phoenix leash laws not applying to dogs with a CGC.
Please note that the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test is there to Test & Certify dogs that are social and well behaved.
Dogs that display inapproriate behavior will not pass a CGC.
Our Evaluators are acting within the Guidelines as set up by the AKC, and cannot pass a dog that displays any behavior that is considered to be inappropriate. This includes behavior displayed prior to the Test, during or after the Test.
However, as a behavioral school with decades of experience in this field, we are able to help.
This assistance is NOT part of the CGC, and is done as part of a one-on-one training session at Partners Training School.
